Groton, CT. — July 15 — During a second-alarm fire on Coleman Street in New London, members of IAFF Local F-219 of Submarine Base Professional Firefighters were assigned to Engine 62. At first, the team worked as a FAST team, supporting firemen inside the building with quick intervention. Additionally, members set up ground ladders on three sides of the building to reach the second storey.
Later on, the crew was moved to an exposure building to perform main searches. The tasks performed by Engine 62 included search operations, ladder operations, and firefighter safety. Throughout the crisis, several departments collaborated on the fire assault, searches, water supply, and other operations.
