Salem, CT. — July 21 — Salem Volunteer Fire Company arrived on Route 11 North close to Exit 13 in response to a car fire that resulted from a deer-strike collision. Colchester Fire & Emergency Medical Services and Gardner Lake Volunteer Fire Company offered assistance to one another. Before firefighters could arrive, one patient was helped out of the car and taken to a nearby hospital for assessment.
In addition to managing the car fire, firefighters collaborated with the nearby supporting departments. Following the crash, health care and fire suppression were part of the reaction. While workers handled the situation and cleared the road, mutual aid assistance helped supply further resources.
