Structure Fire Draws Multi-Agency Response in City of Newburgh

NEWBURGH, NY – City of Newburgh Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 65 Carter Street around 1:30 p.m. on the afternoon of August 7th. Upon arrival, firefighters found a working fire, and command requested a second alarm. Units from West Point, Air Guard, Beacon, and Cronomer Valley responded to the scene.


Firefighters deployed two hand lines through the front door and one around the back. City of Newburgh Police blocked off Carter Street, and Empress EMS was on scene. Central Hudson Gas & Electric was called to shut off power and gas to the apartment.


Firefighters conducted a search and found no one inside the apartment. The cause and origin team was called, and the Orange County Sheriff's Department was notified to respond with an arson canine. The fire is currently under investigation.
