SOUTH AMBOY, NJ - A 4-alarm fire in South Amboy drew a multi-agency response, July 29th, on the 100 block of Augusta Street. Mutual aid on scene included South River FD, Cheesequake FD, Laurence Harbor FD, Perth Amboy FD, and Sayreville FD. East Brunswick FD provided the town with coverage while stationed at Independence Fire Station. Middlesex HAZMAT also responded for reports of multiple propane tanks in the yard, as well as the Middlesex Fire Marshall, New Jersey State Fire Marshall, Middlesex OEM and South Amboy First Aid Squad, which helped provide rehab for all on the scene, ensuring vitals and hydration levels were all up to par; this is all while temperatures soared to well over 100-degrees again as crews battled heavy smoke and flames.
