Engine Four Handles A Kitchen Fire In North Central Troy

On July 31, 2025, at 6:17 PM, the city of Troy‘s Fire Department was dispatched to 3349 6th Avenue for a reported structure fire. Engine four, engine one, engine two, truck two, medic four, the rescue squad, and the battalion chief responded to the scene. The caller was reporting a fire on the second floor. The battalion chief arrived on scene with smoke shown from the second floor of the structure and immediately declared the signal thirty for a working structure fire. Firefighters from engine four deployed an inch and three-quarter hand line to the front door the structure and made their way to the second floor. The battalion chief conducted a quick walk around of the structure and notified the dispatcher that he had significant smoke shown from the second floor on the north side of the structure and smoking show from the roof line.


The next due engine company deployed engine fours large diameter hose down to the fire hydrant and made the connection establishing a water supply for the scene. Firefighters from the truck company tossed a ladder to the roof and members of the truck company made their way to the roof to pop the scuttle. Firefighters on the second floor knocked down the fire condition inside of the kitchen quickly before it could spread. Additional firefighters conducted a primary search of the first floor and second floor and was able to establish that all of the occupants were accounted for. Firefighters after knocking down the fire condition began to vent the structure as they had a significant smoke condition on the second floor.


Firefighters notified command that the incident was under control in less than ten minutes from arrival. The battalion chief place the incident under control at 6:24 PM. Firefighters conducted extensive overhaul of the kitchen fire. Fire Investigator’s made their way to the second floor and began to conduct their investigation into what caused the fire. Firefighters began to break down the scene and go back into service. Due to the rapid response from the Troy Fire Department, firefighters did not have any extension into the roof or any other part of the structure. Troy Fire Department's rapid and aggressive approach to firefighting is a testament to their unwavering dedication to protecting the residence of the City of Troy. Their assertive fire tactics consistently play a critical role in stopping fires in the early stages, preventing them from spreading and causing greater damage.
