Firefighters responded to a structure fire at DaSilva Farms on Brick Kiln Road in Falmouth, Massachusetts, on July 6, 2026, where flames destroyed an outbuilding and killed dozens of young chickens.
Falmouth Fire/Rescue was dispatched at approximately 3:44 p.m. Crews arrived to find a roughly 10-by-30-foot outbuilding engulfed in flames. Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire and worked to prevent it from spreading to other structures on the property. No injuries were reported.
Farm owner Daniel DaSilva later told the Cape Cod Times that the building was used for brooding chickens and that approximately 50 chicks were killed. The fire also destroyed farm equipment, tools and supplies, dealing a significant setback to the family-run operation.
Following the fire, members of the local farming community rallied around the DaSilva family. A fundraiser was shared through the Falmouth Farmers Market's Facebook presence, and a volunteer work day was organized to help the farm recover.
No outside fire departments were identified in the reliable reports I located as providing mutual aid at the scene.
