Firefighters Respond to Boat and Truck Ablaze in West Babylon

WEST BABYLON, NY - On the afternoon of June 28th, the West Babylon FD was alerted for a smoke investigation in the vicinity of Our Lady of Grace Church. Truck 1-9-4 arrived and encountered a medium sized boat engulfed in flames as well as a semi truck cab, with minor extension to the building on Thorburn Avenue.
Moments later, the officer on the Truck (Lt. McGraw 1-9-64) asked for a resound for a working fire. Engine 3 arrived and put a line in operation while 1-9-8 laid in to Engine 3 for a water supply, which was then fed to Truck 4.
Engine crews on scene operated a minimum of two hand lines whilst the truck used their master streams for a top down attack. Lindenhurst was mutual aided for one engine to the scene, North Lindenhurst for the FAST, Wyandanch Wheatley Heights Ambulance Corp for rehab and Babylon to backfill. Units were under the command of Lt. McGraw.
