On July 18, 2025, at 6:59 PM, The Clinton Heights Fire Department with the Bruen Rescue Squad was dispatched to 247 Pinehurst Avenue for reported structure fire with multiple calls. The callers reported the house is on fire. Clinton Heights car one called in route to the scene and the dispatcher notified the chief that they were taking multiple calls on the fire and the chief requested the Defreestville Fire Department to be dispatched to the scene with their rapid intervention crew. Clinton Heights car one notified the dispatcher that he had a heavy column of smoke in the air from the Hampton Avenue and to transmit the second alarm. The second alarm was dispatched immediately bringing the East Greenbush Fire Department, and Best Luther Fire Department to the scene, and the Castleton Fire Department to Clinton Heights station for a standby crew.

Clinton Heights arrived on scene with heavy smoke showing from the roof of the structure and a significant fire condition in the rear of the building. The chief quickly conducted a full walk around of the building and was able to confirm everybody was out of the structure. Command requested national grid to the scene. The first arriving engine on scene immediately deployed an inch and three-quarter hand line to the front door of the structure as additional members from the crew connected to the nearby hydrant. Firefighters made a push inside of the structure and up the stairs where they encountered a significant fire condition. Firefighters immediately made an aggressive interior attack knocking down a significant portion of the heavy fire condition inside of the home. Within twelve minutes firefighters had the heavy fire condition knocked down inside of the structure from the initial dispatch.

Firefighters from the truck company arrived on scene and ladder the front of the structure it made their way to the roof. Firefighters from the rapid intervention group set up in front of the structure and began to conduct a full walk around of the home to assess any type of egress issues or challenges they may face if a emergency arises. Engine eight, nine, and engine three-six arrived on scene and firefighters began to assist the crew inside of the structure. Firefighters on the roof began conduct vertical ventilation and firefighters in the structure began to conduct horizontal ventilation as they still had a significant smoke condition throughout the structure. Additional firefighters inside of the structure began to pull the ceilings in the area of the fire to gain access to the attic area as there was still a significant amount of smoke coming up around the chimney. Firefighters that had been working inside of the structure came outside to cool down and grab a bottle of water and change out their air bottles.

Firefighters inside of the structure conducted extensive overhaul. During the incident no injuries were reported of any occupants inside of the structure and of any firefighters on scene. The City of Rensselaer fire investigators and Rensselaer County Fire Investigators conducted the investigation. Firefighters from the Clinton Heights Fire Department were able to bring the entire fire under control in less than 15 minutes. Thanks to the rapid response of their dedicated volunteer firefighters and the aggressive fire tactics they deployed, they successfully prevented the fire from spreading to the entire house. The quick and skilled efforts of these brave individuals highlight the commitment and selflessness of the Fire Department. The community can take great pride in the unwavering dedication of these individuals who continuously serve and protect their neighbors.
