Over the Independence Day vacation, members of the Greenfield Fire Department worked with mutual assistance agencies from throughout the area to help the Orange Fire Department with a distant brush fire.

During the two-day incident, the department's Drone Team, firefighters, and officers assisted with suppression operations. While Captain Kimball and Deputy McIver carried out aerial mapping flights to give incident commanders up-to-date information on fire perimeters, containment line positions, and hazard assessments, Chief Strahan coordinated resources from three states and three counties. To improve firefighting efforts, the Franklin County Hand Crew was assembled on the second day.
