Bellwood, PA - The Excelsior Fire Department No. 1 of Bellwood responded alongside AMED, Lakemont Fire Company, and Greenwood Fire Company to a motor vehicle accident on I-99 South near the Bellwood exit. Units arrived to find two vehicles involved, including one over an embankment, with multiple patients requiring assistance.

Crews initiated extrication operations for occupants confined within one of the vehicles while command coordinated resources on scene. Fire police assisted with traffic control as the southbound lanes were shut down to allow safe operations. Despite efforts, one individual involved in the crash was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Responders remained on location for an extended period while Pennsylvania State Police and the coroner conducted their investigation. The department extends condolences to the families affected and acknowledges the support of mutual aid partners during the incident.
