Savannah, GA - The Savannah Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire in the 400 block of West 36th Street, arriving to find smoke and flames visible from the building.

Firefighters rapidly deployed handlines and initiated an aggressive fire attack, bringing the fire under control in a short period of time and preventing extension to surrounding properties. Crews continued operations with overhaul to ensure complete extinguishment and eliminate any remaining hot spots.

The fire was determined to involve a two-car detached garage, and due to the quick actions of responding crews, no occupied residential structures were affected.
