At 3:26 pm on Friday, 7/25/25 the Lisbon Fire Department with Baltic Tanker 124, Griswold ET-355, Jewett City Engine 156, Taftville Engine 21 & Truck 25, Norwich Engine 2, Bozrah Tanker 126 and the Yantic FAST were dispatched to 20 Ethel Acres for a house filling with smoke after being struck by lightning.
Car 54 arrived at 3:30 with flames showing from the delta side of the attic. ET-154 stretched a line through the front door with help from Engine 21. Engine 21 and Tanker 154 also tied into ET-154 and gave them their tank water.
Engine 2 went to the roof and performed vertical ventilation. Companies had the fire knocked down within 20 minutes and overhauled the area. Tankers were added from Canterbury, Voluntown and Preston but luckily were released shortly after they arrived. Canterbury Ambulance 593 also stood by on scene. The Lisbon Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
