Wantagh, N.Y. — 8th July — A car fire on the westbound Southern State Parkway between Route 135 and Wantagh Avenue was responded to by the Wantagh Fire Department, located at 2995 Jerusalem Ave., Wantagh, NY. Rich Mongiello, the third assistant chief, was the first to arrive and reported a totally involved vehicle.

The Safety Officer, District EMS, and Engines 2 and 7 were due after Engine 694. After a fuel tank burst and spilled roughly 15 gallons of gasoline onto the road, firefighters used foam and water to put out the fire. There were no reported injuries. The site was securely secured, the fire was contained, and dangers were managed thanks to the synchronized reaction.
