Boat Crews Respond to River Rescue, Kayakers Assisted to Safety

Allegheny, PA - The Gallatin Sunnyside Volunteer Fire Department responded to assist the City of Monongahela with a river rescue during severe weather conditions.
Rescue boat crews quickly launched and proceeded toward the Monongahela Bridge, where two kayakers were reported in distress, with one person in the water. As responders approached, both individuals were able to reach the shoreline safely.
Firefighters checked both individuals for injuries and assisted them, along with their kayaks, back across the river before clearing the incident.
