On July 19, the Bay Shore Fire Department, along with the Bay Shore-Brightwaters Rescue Ambulance and the New York State Police, responded to a car accident in which the vehicle veered off the road and into a wooded area.

When firefighters arrived, the car had two people inside. After the car hit a tree and came to rest in the brush, one person was seriously hurt and the driver was only slightly hurt.

For medical attention, both residents were sent to a nearby hospital. When driving in rainy conditions, department officials advised drivers to slow down and use additional caution.
