At approximately 9:21 a.m., members of the New York State Police assigned to Troop T, SP Newburgh, and Troop F, SP Highland, responded to a reported passenger bus rollover on the New York State Thruway (I-87) southbound near mile marker 69.5 in the town of Plattekill. The crash occurred between Exit 18 (New Paltz/Poughkeepsie, NY Route 299) and Exit 17 (Newburgh/Scranton, I-84/NY Routes 17K and 300).

The preliminary investigation determined that the bus was traveling from Schenectady to New York City with the driver and passengers on board. Ten passengers were transported to area hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Uninjured passengers were transported by bus to a reunification center established by the Ulster County Office of Emergency Management.

The driver, identified as Zhangrong Wang, 44, of Woodside, showed no signs of impairment. No tickets have been issued at this time. The investigation remains ongoing.

During the emergency response and investigation, the left lanes in both the southbound and northbound directions were closed for several hours. The scene has since been cleared, and all lanes have reopened.

State Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has information regarding the incident to contact the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Highland at 845-344-5300.
