The Westville Volunteer Fire Department responded to a reported garage fire on State Route 37 at 4:50 p.m. on July 5.

Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire conditions and began an exterior attack. Mutual aid departments responded, and additional tankers were requested to establish two water supply sites for the extended operation. Crews remained on scene until 10:48 p.m.

No civilians or firefighters were injured. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The department thanked the numerous mutual aid agencies, the auxiliary and approximately 40 volunteers who assisted with the response.
