Church Fire In Baltimore County During Storms

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Shortly before 4pm on Saturday, July 17th, as companies across Baltimore County were battling a 2-alarm apartment building fire and running multiple calls related to a severe thunderstorm, units were alerted for Fire Box 11-7, reporting smoke in the kitchen of the Loch Raven United Methodist Church at 6622 Loch Raven Blvd, located next door to BCoFD Station 11. Career and volunteer units from Essex, Cockeysville, Middle River, Pikesville, Providence and Eastview were alerted on the call, and first-arriving Engine 71 and Truck 15 confirmed smoke conditions in the building. Firefighters stretched several handlines, threw ground ladders and used Pikesville VFC Tower 323's bucket to access the roof, and extinguished a fire in the basement of the church.
