Westerly, RI - The Watch Hill Fire Department responded as part of the New London Marine Group to the area of Ram Island in Long Island Sound for a 43-foot vessel that had struck an object and was rapidly taking on water.
Marine 10, staffed with a crew of four, arrived on scene and coordinated with the U.S. Coast Guard, Groton Long Point Volunteer Fire Department, and a local Sea Tow crew, while the Noank Fire Department maintained land-based command of the incident.
Firefighters assisted with dewatering operations using multiple portable pumps to help keep the vessel afloat and provided a safety escort as it was towed to a safe harbor.
No injuries were reported.
