This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

East Berlin, PA. — July 2 — Engine 32-2 and four firemen from Northeast Adams Fire & EMS responded to an Adams County power plant fire on a mutual aid assignment. While utility workers dealt with electrical risks at the plant, the team assisted nearby departments with operational duties and fire suppression. To preserve safe working conditions throughout the response, utility crews and fire departments must carefully coordinate when dealing with incidents involving power producing equipment.

The staff went back to work after finishing the chores they were given. In order to ensure that there were enough people and resources available for a safe and efficient emergency response, the incident demonstrated the value of mutual aid, specialized training, and coordinated operations.
