PASSAIC, NJ — Just after 12:00 p.m. on July 1st, Passaic fire units were dispatched to 108 Pennington Ave following a report of smoke coming from the roof.

Upon arrival, the Battalion Chief confirmed a working fire and immediately requested a second alarm. The fire was located on the second floor in the A/D corner and had extended into the walls.

Two lines were stretched to the second floor as crews began opening walls and knocking down the fire. It was brought under control within 40 minutes.

Mutual aid was requested from Paterson, Clifton, and Wallington, while other neighboring departments covered Passaic's West and East side firehouses.

A special thanks goes out to the North Jersey Canteen Unit for providing snacks, cold water, and cooling towels to keep firefighters hydrated and cool as temperatures reached 90 degrees.

No injuries were reported, and no one required medical attention.

The scene was turned over to Passaic Fire Prevention for investigation. According to the homeowner, an electrician had been working in that area of the home before going to lunch. Upon returning, he noticed smoke coming from the roof.
