A kitchen fire apparently started in an appliance was controlled by first due units on July 3^rd. 

Companies arrived to heavy smoke issuing from the first floor of a large dwelling at 740 Dearborn Street. A line was stretched and the truck company vented the structure. All fire was soon extinguished as members of the 3^rd platoon continued to ventilate and search for any extension. The fire was placed under control and companies were released. No injuries were reported.
