2 Rescued After Boat Overturns in Narrows Bay

Mastic Beach N.Y.- On Monday July 12th at about 5:27PM the Mastic Beach FD , Mastic Beach Ambulance, South Country ambulance and Suffolk Police Marine Mike were dispatched along with US Coast Guard for a report of a overturned boat in the Narrows Bay Near Red Buoy #8. All Mastic beach chiefs quickly responded to the Mastic Beach Property Owners Marina 1 and command was established under Chief of Department Fred Loiacono. 5-13-7 which is the departments water rescue truck and 5-13-5 were dispatched to the Marina with crews and a boat crew was made up to send boat 5-13-26 out with EMS Assistant Chief TJ Falah also on board incase medical aid was needed. In addition, 2nd Lieutenant Kevin Wittman was sent out on jet ski 5-13-26B. Upon searching the water 5-13-26’s crew reported back that the Coast Guard Appeared-to have made their way to the victims

The US Coast Guard has confirmed that a boat crew from Search and Rescue Detachment Moriches NY was able to locate the 12-foot boat and the 2 occupants were successfully removed from the water and taken aboard the rescue boat .The Coast Guard rescue boat was seen following the fire boat back to MBPOA Marina 1 with the small boat in tow where the Coast Guard was met by Fire and EMS Personnel. The subjects did not appear to be injured and refused any further medical evaluation/ treatment . All FD and EMS units were placed back in service in about 45 minutes.
