Cedar Hammock, FL - Just as shift change was occurring on July 13th, a Manatee County Sheriff's Officer reported smoke coming from the rear of Aarons Furniture & Electronics on 2114 Cortez Road West.
As units arrived on scene nothing was showing from the "A" side of the building, but units on the "C" side reported black smoke. A second-alarm was struck.
As crews made entry they were met with thick black smoke and heat, but the fire was not visible. Soon after, firefighters found the fire in a rear storage area and quickly knocked it down.
It appears the fire may have been burning for a while, and may have been held in check with a broken water pipe.
