July 9, 2023
The Limerick Fire Department was requested to assist with water rescues in Exeter Township, Berks County. Command 51 and Swiftwater 51 responded. Heavy rainfall in the area caused water to flood the banks of Antietam Creek and homes in the area of Shelbourne Road and Constitution Road. Crews were able to quickly deploy both boats to safely remove residents. The crews also checked additional homes in the area to see if residences were occupied and homeowners were safe or in need of removal. Crews were on location for several hours. Job well done by all.
