Specialized ARFF Unit Proves Critical in Remote Equipment Fire

Rangeley, ME - Rangeley Fire Rescue responded to a reported logging equipment fire in Lang Township, where crews located the incident approximately one mile down a dirt road off Route 16 with assistance from a bystander.
Firefighters initiated suppression operations and utilized approximately 2,750 gallons of water to contain and extinguish the fire. No injuries to firefighters or civilians were reported, and the cause remains under investigation.
The incident highlighted the effectiveness of the department’s Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) crash rescue vehicle, whose off-road capability, high-capacity water delivery, and specialized equipment proved valuable in managing the remote fire scene.
