During a hectic week that included two structure fire occurrences, the Stafford Fire Department No. 1 struck a balance between emergency response and training.

On Tuesday, firefighters put equipment back into operation after responding to a structure fire. The "rural hitch" water supply strategy, which had been effectively employed during the previous fire to establish a dependable water source, was reviewed by members during Thursday's training.

Squad 145 was sent on mutual aid to a working building fire in Wales while training was in progress. Within five minutes of starting a drafting operation at the Wales Fire House, the crew was able to send water to several tankers during the crisis.
