Lightning Strike Sparks Kitchen Fire, Quick Response Limits Damage
Dartmouth, MA - Dartmouth Fire District 1 responded to a reported lightning strike on Meadow Shores Drive, where crews arrived to find a residential structure with smoke showing on multiple levels. Due to the temporary closure of the Padanaram Bridge, apparatus positioned on the west side of the causeway responded immediately alongside additional units from headquarters.
Firefighters quickly located a fire in the kitchen area and initiated an aggressive interior attack. Through coordinated efforts, crews were able to contain the fire and prevent further extension throughout the structure.
Mutual aid from District 3 provided coverage for the east side of the district while operations were underway. The rapid response and effective actions of firefighters limited damage to the area of origin.
