Heavy Response to Major Collision Underscores Traffic Control Risks
Orland, ME - The Orland Fire Department responded to a serious motor vehicle accident at the intersection atop Home Hill. Seven personnel initially arrived on scene with Engine 512, Rescue 581, and personal vehicles. Maine State Police, Bucksport EMS, and members of the Marine Patrol also assisted in the response.
Due to the severity of the incident, a scene reconstruction was required. Additional personnel responded with Engines 511 and 513 to support operations, close Acadia Highway, and divert traffic along Castine Road and Gray Meadow Road.
Although ten personnel were committed to the incident, the scale of the response was necessary. Several high-traffic, multi-lane areas were managed by a single firefighter directing vehicles, working to maintain traffic flow while ensuring scene safety under challenging conditions.
