Watch Hill Crews Responded on Mutual Aid Assignment

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Westerly, R.I. — June 10 — In the Westerly Fire District, the Watch Hill Fire Department responded to a commercial structure fire as part of a mutual aid assignment. During suppression operations, firefighters helped with interior fire attacks, hazard reduction, and resource coordination. Throughout the crisis, crisis Commander Chief John Mackay oversaw radio communications, troop accountability, and resource tracking from Squad 100's rear command post.

While responders worked at the fire spot, several Watch Hill members stayed at the station to cover the district. The reaction demonstrated the importance of unified command and mutual assistance alliances in the safe and effective handling of major commercial fire events.
