South Berwick, Maine — June 10 — The Waterboro Fire Department recognized Firefighter/EMT John Bryant and Firefighter/AEMT Sean Perkins after they graduated from the 2026 Firefighter 1 & 2 Academy. Bryant was voted Student of the Year and recently began working for the department as a full-time firefighter. He started field training with FF/Paramedic Mike Hersom before being given a regular shift.

Perkins, a longstanding department member, completed the academy in addition to his years of service. The Firefighter 1 and 2 certification, which gave both members increased skills in fire suppression, rescue operations, firefighter safety, and emergency response, improved the department's operational readiness.
