Bernardston Fire Department Assists at Wendell Structure Fire on Mutual Aid

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

On July 3, the Bernardston Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Wickett Pond Road in Wendell as part of a mutual aid assignment.

After resolving an earlier incident in Leyden, Engine 2 was sent to the area as the rapid intervention team (RIT) at around 8:15 a.m. During the response, Tanker 1 stayed in Bernardston to cover the station.

Bernardston firefighters helped with roof ventilation alongside teams using Northfield's ladder truck after inside firefighting operations were halted. Because of the intense heat, personnel were cycled throughout the incident.

At around 1:30 p.m., Bernardston troops were released by command and put back into duty.
