COLONIE, NY – On June 21, 2025, at 9:39 PM, the Shaker Road Fire Department, along with mutual aid from the Latham Fire Department, the Colonie Village Fire Company (as the Rapid Intervention Team), and Colonie Emergency Medical Services, was dispatched to 12 Rodger Drive for a reported structure fire. The caller reported that a bedroom was on fire. The first arriving police unit on scene notified the dispatcher that smoke was showing from the structure and advised of the location of the nearest hydrant.

Car 51 arrived on scene, assumed command, and confirmed smoke showing from the structure. Squad 9, followed by Truck 9, arrived shortly thereafter and deployed a 1¾-inch hand line to the front door. Firefighters quickly conducted a primary search of the home to ensure all occupants were out of the building. They notified command that a mattress was on fire inside the residence and extinguished it. Positive pressure ventilation was used to clear smoke from the structure, and firefighters conducted overhaul in the fire area.

No injuries were reported, and thanks to the rapid response of the firefighters, damage was kept to a minimum. The Town of Colonie Fire Services was contacted to investigate the cause of the fire. No official determination has been released publicly. Firefighters returned to service a short time later.
