GLENMONT, NY - A car fire drill for the Elsmere Fire Department started early when a call was dispatched for an actual car fire in Glenmont. Just before a car fire drill, the Elsmere Fire Department was dispatched to the area of East Bayberry Road and Derry Lane for reports of a car on fire just after 6:15 P.M. on Tuesday, June 25th. Bethlehem Police officers arrived on scene and radioed dispatch that they had a fully-involved car fire with several explosions reported from the tires. Firefighters arrived and got the fire knocked down before heading to their car fire drill. While at their drill, firefighters were called back by the tow company for containment of gasoline spilling from the vehicle. Also on scene was Delmar-Bethlehem EMS and Albany County Paramedics. There were no injuries reported on scene.
