July 4th Fireworks Caps off Busy Week for FDNY

With the close of Saturday, this week marked a busy week for the Fire Department, City of New York. With record setting heat and thousands of additional visitors in town for the World Cup and July 4th Celebrations combined with severe weather, the Department respond to hundreds of extra calls as well as staffing the many special events. On July 4th the New York City Police Department and event organizers estimated that over a million people gathered to watch the Macy’s Fourth of July fireworks in person. The FDNY deployed specialized units (such as the Incident Management Team), Marine Units, Fire Suppression assets as well as a full complement from the EMS Bureau to monitor and protect crowds during the event.
