Firefighters battle a fire in a self storage facility

Little did the Salem NH firefirefighters know when they came into work on July-4 just what kind of shift it would be. Early evening Salem Engine-1 was dispatched to assist Pelham NH fire with a second alarm house fire. Around eleven PM Salem Engine 1 was sent out to interstate-93 by. exit 1 for a smoke check. Engine 1 reported they could see a building fire at the storage site from the highway and requested a first alarm in the area of South Policy Street,
First company on scene reported two storage units on scene with heavy smoke in several other units. Companies were able to make a quick knok down of the fire firefighters forced entry into several units to check for any extention and there was none the fire was contained to two units.
The fire is being investigated by the Salem Fire Dept.
Just after companies were put back in service a request for mutual air was requested by Dracut Mass for station coverage for their third alarm fire Engine 1 was dispatched.
Around 7am Haverhill Mass Fire requested Salem Tower ladder to the scene of a house fire.
