Crews Work Extended Operation to Contain Brush Fire in North Orange
Orange, MA - Orange Fire Rescue EMS and multiple mutual aid departments responded to a brush fire deep in the woods off Town Farm Road, with crews facing difficult access and labor-intensive conditions.
Initially reported at several acres, the fire grew to approximately 8.3 acres at its peak. Firefighters worked steadily to cut containment lines by hand, eventually surrounding about 75% of the fire before operations were paused for the evening due to safety concerns.
The incident escalated to a third alarm, bringing in additional resources to assist with containment efforts. Officials reported no threat to structures and no need for evacuations at any point during the incident.
All units cleared the scene for the night, with plans for crews to return and continue operations in the coming days until the fire is fully contained.
