On June 20, 2025, at 6:08 PM, the city of Troy’s Fire Department was dispatched to 761 River Street for a reported structure fire. Engine four, engine one, engine two, truck one, truck two, medic three, the rescue squad, and the battalion chief responded to the scene. The caller reported they had a fire in the wall as they can see smoke on the first floor and does not believe anyone is on the second floor. Engine four arrived on scene with nothing showing from the outside of the home. As firefighters made their way inside, the officer of engine four notified the dispatcher that they had a fire in the wall and transmitted the signal thirty for a working structure fire. Firefighters from the next due engine connected to the nearby hydrant establishing a water supply.
Firefighters deployed an inch and three-quarter hand line into the side door of the structure and additional firefighters began to arrive on scene and began to pull apart the wall to gain access to the fire. Truck two’s crew tossed the ladder to the roof and began to inspect the roof area for any extension. The chief was able to confirm everybody inside of the house was accounted for. Firefighters notified the chief that they had a smoke condition in the basement, and they were attempting to locate the seat of the fire. As firefighters were working, they began to pull apart the wall where the fire was on the inside of the kitchen and on the outside of the structure exposing the beams and a portion that had burned out. Firefighters on the second-floor notified command that there was no extension as firefighters on the first-floor notified command that they had the fire under control.
Command notified the dispatcher that they were placing the incident under control in less than fifteen minutes. Firefighters continued to conduct overhaul of the area around the fire and fire investigators began to investigate the cause of the fire. At this time no public determination of the cause of the fire has been released. No injuries have been reported and at the time of the fire the Red Cross was notified for the individuals displaced by the fire. Firefighters went back into service about 30 minutes later after the fire was placed under control and the scene was cleaned up.
