Harpursville, N.Y. — June 7 — A truck towing a trailer crashed and damaged a NYSEG utility pole, prompting the Harpursville Fire Department to respond. While the damaged car was being collected, firefighters stayed on the site, controlled traffic, and guarded the area. Until NYSEG utility technicians arrived to evaluate the damaged pole and secure the scene, crews kept a safety perimeter. There were no other recorded injuries.
While repairs were being made, the response concentrated on safeguarding drivers and assisting utility operations. Fire authorities also warned the public to treat all downed electrical wires as electrified, avoid the area, and immediately report the hazard to emergency services and the utility company.
