Newport City, VT - City of Newport Fire Department responded to South Avenue for a report of smoke coming from a bathroom, prompting a multi-unit response including Fire 1, Engine 2, Engine 3, Tower 1, and Brush 23.
Upon arrival, crews identified smoke coming from beneath the floor of a second-floor bathroom that was undergoing renovations. Firefighters quickly opened the floor and located a smoldering fire that had originated during plumbing work.
The fire was swiftly extinguished, preventing any extension and minimizing damage to the structure. All units cleared the scene after ensuring the area was safe.
