Troy, VT - Troy Volunteer Fire Department was requested to provide additional manpower to assist Lowell Fire Department with the rescue of an injured hiker on the Long Trail.
Responding crews made their way up the trail toward Tillotson’s Peak, the last known location of the patient. After a challenging ascent, the initial crew successfully located the hiker at the Tillotson Shelter. EMS personnel conducted an on-site assessment before coordinating a careful and controlled descent down the mountain.
Firefighters from Troy and Lowell, alongside Montgomery Search and Rescue, worked seamlessly together to safely bring the patient off the trail. Upon reaching the trailhead, Newport Ambulance was standing by and assumed patient care for further transport.
