Mahanoy City- An EF-1 tornado struck the west side of the borough at around 7:39 P.M. on May 27th . According to the National Weather Service, winds of 90 mph were present for about six minutes. Approximately 600 customers lost power during the storm. Damage consisted of broken windows, torn signs and awnings, siding and roof problems, and up rooted trees etc. There were no reports of injuries.
