LODI, NJ - At about 7:45 A.M. on June 24th, the Lodi FD was dispatched to 383 Farnham Ave. for the report of a possible fire.

The first arriving Chief reported a working fire with smoke showing from the eaves of a two-and-a-half story frame dwelling. A second-alarm was sounded to the scene. All residents were accounted for as the smoke condition intensified. Flames vented out the first floor 'A' side as lines were being stretched. The flames were knocked back as soon as water started flowing, but the smoke condition intensified from the second floor and attic. Conditions continued to deteriorate as smoke was pushing from all floors of the dwelling. A second floor bedroom flashed and extended out the front windows. This prompted the command to be given to all companies to exit the structure.

Several handlines from all sides of the home were put into operation. Soon the intensity of the smoke began to subside and members were able to re-enter. Ground ladders were used for access due to stairs and floor being burnt away. All visible fire was quelled within one hour, and the fire was placed under control shortly thereafter. Lodi Fire Prevention is investigating the cause. No serious injuries were reported. Garfield, Wallington, Saddle Brook, Hasbrouck Heights, and Rochelle Park provided mutual aid to the scene. A third-alarm was transmitted for coverage to the Borough.
