Eastampton, NJ - Over the past 24 hours, the local volunteer fire department remained actively engaged in a series of diverse emergency responses and training activities, demonstrating both skill and dedication to the community.

In the late hours of 22 March 2026 crews responded to a broken water pipe in a multi-story apartment building. Firefighters quickly improvised to control the situation—one firefighter crawled into the ceiling and utilized a section of 1¾-inch hose, carefully positioning it across an attic ladder and out a window to divert water away from the structure. Meanwhile, another crew located and shut off the building’s water supply, effectively mitigating further damage.

Then in the next morning of 23 March 2026 firefighters were dispatched for an animal rescue after a bird became trapped in a small opening on a residential roof. Unable to free itself without injuring its wing, the bird was carefully assisted by Firefighter Frazier, who successfully disentangled and released it without harm.

The day concluded with a scheduled drill night focused on vehicle extrication training, Part II. The scenario involved “Rescue Randy,” a 180-pound training dummy, trapped inside an overturned simulated vehicle. Crews worked cohesively, applying learned techniques to safely and efficiently complete the extrication.

Community members interested in this rewarding and hands-on work are encouraged to visit the firehouse on any Monday night between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. to learn more about joining the all-volunteer fire department.
