Ansonia Fire Department personnel responded to a reported electrical fire involving an outside electrical panel at a home on Benz Street on May 30.

When firemen arrived, they discovered a minor fire in the electrical panel that was located on the side of the house, according to officials. In addition to securing the home's electricity, crews thoroughly inspected the building to look for any signs of fire spreading inside. Firefighters were able to contain the situation in about 20 minutes because no expansion was discovered.

There were no reported injuries. According to department heads, the prompt action and methodical evaluation ensured the house was secure before workers left the area and prevented additional damage.
