Ansonia Fire Department personnel responded to a reported porch fire on High Street on May 29.

According to officials, when firemen arrived, they discovered a small fire in the home's porch area. Using a portable water extinguisher, also called a water can, crews swiftly put out the fire to stop it from spreading. During the event, no injuries were recorded.

In 2026, the response was the department's 316th service request. Leaders of the department emphasized the ongoing dedication of the department's volunteer firefighters to safeguarding the Ansonia community and credited the prompt reaction and effective fire assault for getting the situation under control.
