Allendale Fire Department Responds to Vehicle Fire Caused by Downed Power Lines After Storm

Allendale, NJ - Following the severe storm that moved through the borough, the Allendale Fire Department responded to multiple emergency incidents, including a significant call on Hillside Avenue involving downed power lines and a vehicle fire.


Squad 935 was dispatched to the scene, where firefighters discovered that an electrical utility worker had been inside his truck attempting to restore power to the area when live power lines fell onto the vehicle, igniting a fire. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.


Fire crews remained on scene into the early morning hours, working to extinguish the fire, secure the hazard, and assist with reopening the roadway. The incident was one of several storm-related responses handled by the department as crews worked throughout the night to keep the community safe.


The Allendale Fire Department continues to provide around-the-clock emergency service to the borough with a dedicated team of 100% volunteer firefighters.
