On the afternoon of Saturday June 21st 2025 at approximately 1230 hrs, Scotch Plains and Fanwood Fire Departments responded to the 2000 block of Portland Avenue, in Scotch Plains, reported black smoke coming from a home. Upon arrival, crews had fire showing from side A of the home. Attack lines were stretched and the fire was quickly contained by crews on scene, and no injuries were reported.
