Brooksville, FL - Hernando County Fire Rescue responded Thursday morning to the 19000 block of Lily Pond Court in the Southern Hills area for a reported hazardous materials incident involving a damaged gas line.

According to officials, a contractor working near a residence struck a natural gas line while digging, prompting a precautionary evacuation of nearby homes.

Hazmat crews assessed the situation and carried out mitigation measures to safely control the leak. The incident was resolved without further issue, and no injuries were reported
