Smoldering Sawdust Fire Quickly Extinguished on Walnut Hill Road
North Yarmouth, ME - North Yarmouth Fire Rescue responded with mutual aid to a reported sawdust fire near a commercial building at 373 Walnut Hill Road.
Due to the occupancy of the business, multiple units were initially dispatched, including Cumberland Tower 107, Yarmouth Engine 82, and Pownal Tank 4. Upon arrival, crews found a smoldering pile of sawdust near the structure.
North Yarmouth Engine 52 and command personnel quickly initiated operations, with an 1¾-inch handline used to extinguish the fire. Approximately 300 gallons of water were used to bring the incident under control.
Additional units assisted with water supply support and overhaul to ensure full extinguishment. The fire was contained without reported extension to the nearby building.
